Martin joined the CCG in August 2016 as the Lay Member for primary care governance.
Martin qualified as a nurse in 1981. He has worked as a ‘sister’ and as a senior nurse in London. He completed his first master’s degree in 1984 and published his first book on facilitating change in mental health in 1988. He then moved to work in Brighton, working as Director of Nursing from 1990. Subsequent Director appointments followed in Worthing and Poole.
Martin completed his second research master’s degree in 2012. He took early retirement in 2014 and became an independent clinical consultant. Martin is also a Lay Member for Primary Care Commissioning at South Kent Coast CCG.
Martin has 24 years board level experience and has led organisations through regulatory scrutiny, achieving compliance and regulatory plaudits. Recent consultancy work has included governance reviews, clinical service reviews and investigations of whistle blowing concerns and serious complaints.
