Karen Ford commenced her career in retail banking as a fast track entrant where she gained professional banking qualifications, including accountancy and law. In 1994 she entered the public sector as a primary school finance manager and in 1997 moved to a large multi-site 11-18 years community college.
Her role as a member of the college's senior leadership team required close working with the governing body and responsibility for discharging many statutory duties, including risk management. Karen successfully established an active Parent Forum and forged strong links with local community groups and councillors.
Karen joined Quayside Medical Practice, Newhaven, in 2006 as Practice Business Manager and immediately became actively involved in the Havens Locality PBC group. As Lead Practice Business Manager for the Havens Locality she has worked alongside the Chair to support; the development of its ethos, the engagement of its members, its successful merger with Lewes Locality in 2011 and the subsequent merger with High Weald in 2012.
